In today's competitive market, service providers like hairdressers, nail salons, cafes, and car washes are increasingly adopting digital customer or member cards to enhance customer engagement and loyalty.
Wallicards offer businesses the ability to create digital loyalty cards that not only reward repeat customers but also facilitate direct communication through push notifications.

Overview of the design tool
In this guide, we will focus on Apple Wallet customer cards, which is selected at the top of the page.
If you are designing member cards or stamp cards, which have other functionalities available, the design tool has the same layout for both Apple and Google Wallet cards and is presented in three tabs: Theme & Settings, Front of Card and Back of Card.
Front of Card gives you customisable options for the information presented on the card when it is viewed in the customer's digital wallet.
Back of Card gives you options for changing settings and info when customers flip the card over, and lastly, Theme & Settings is where you change the overall look and branding of the member card.
We will dive right into how you can customise your card with your branding and offers below.
Theme & Settings explained

In Theme & Settings, you can change colours, add fields and update card design, which allows you to create a visually appealing and brand-aligned card. Here’s how to make the most of the Theme and Settings section.
How to Customize the Colors of Your Member Cards
Personalizing the colors of your stamp cards is a great way to align them with your brand or bring your creative vision to life. With just a few simple steps, you can adjust the basic color themes and text colors to match your preferences.
Change Colors and background image
The first step you would like to follow is to change the background color, label color and text color.
The background color will change the overall look and if you already have specific brand colors in mind, you can input their hex codes directly into the color fields.
In this example, we decided to change the colors to a dark purple color, to match the logo and background image, which we will show you how to do, in the next step.
If you have access to your brand's hex color codes, you can add these by pasting the color code in the fields.
As an example you can copy this code, used for the demo card: #4d465f and paste it into the Background Color field.
Alternatively, click on the square next to the hex code field to open a color picker. This tool allows you to select your desired color by dragging the color picker tool to a desired result.
Changing Label and Text Color
The next step is to also change label and text colors.
In short, labels can be used as a short description, such as current offers, promo code and similar.
It is advised that you use a contrasting color to the background. For a light- colored background (white, grey, yellow as examples), use a darker color for the text and labels, and vice versa.
For demonstration purposes, we will change the label color, to make it pop a bit more, and stand out against the background and text color:

If you like a particular color combination, after experimenting in this section, you can save and reuse it for other cards by copying the hex code to a note, document, or similar. This ensures consistency across your designs.
Changing the Main Image
The main image appears prominently on the front of your customer card. For the best display quality, use an image with a resolution of at least 1125px by 432px or higher.
To upload a new image or to replace an existing one, click on the existing image or change the image.
Tip: Use an image that reflects your brand, such as a banner, product photo, or promotional graphic.
Notification Icon
The notification icon is displayed on the lock screen when a customer receives updates or notifications related to their digital pass. Use a square image with at least 150px by 150px resolution.
Remember that transparent backgrounds will not display as transparent on lock screens, so choose a design that works well on solid backgrounds. To update, click Change Image or on the image shown below the Notification Icon prompt, shown in the image below.

Changing logo settings
Your logo is displayed in the top-left corner of the card, adding a professional touch and reinforcing your brand identity. Use a PNG file with a transparent background for the best results.
To upload or modify the logo, click Change Image or click on the image shown under the square or rectangular flicker. Recommended dimensions for square images are at least 150px by 150px, and for rectangular images, at least 480px by 150px.

By tailoring these elements to match your branding, you ensure a polished, professional design that enhances customer engagement.
Remember to save your changes by clicking the Save Changes button at the top of the page!
Front of Card explained

Customizing the Front of Card ensures your customer card looks professional and contains relevant information in a very flexible way. You can, for instance, add customer information such as name, for a personalised feel of the card, or any other data available in the database.
In this way, you can create custom offers or use the card to send out notifications about cancellations, discounts or any promotions that are currently running.
To demonstrate this, we will add a field with the customer's name and our business phone number by adding another field to the top field section. You can also move these fields around by using the up and down arrows displayed in the header for each field.
Adding information to the main fields
Here, you can display relevant information, such as your current offers or any updates you want your customers to see. We will add a made-up offer to demonstrate this.
By adding a prompt to Field Label and adding a custom offer to Field Type (Custom 1 in this example), you can create an offer that is displayed on the front of your customer's card.

If a field on the front of the card is left empty, its content will automatically be populated with data the customer provided via the web form. To enable this feature, ensure the corresponding field is included in your web form setup.
If you input text into the field, the content will become static and remain the same for all customers.
Adding and changing Top Fields

At the top of your customer card, you can choose to display information to further personalise the cards, with what information you find important, by using top fields.
In this example, we have added a Top Field, which displays your customer's name (Field 1), and a field for business phone number (Field 2).
The information in the field content can be left static, by adding a prompt to Field Content, if you don't add a field type with specific information such as name of customer.
Important note: If you wish to add something like a customer name, this information needs to be included in the Customer Form, which is used to sign your customers up for the service.

Lock Screen Message

This message can be found under Field 1 and appears on the customer’s lock screen when specific data changes (e.g., earning points or receiving an update).
To include the updated value in the message, use the placeholder %@. For example: "You now have %@ points!"
If the lock screen message field is left blank, no notifications will be sent when the data is updated.
Back of Card explained
The final step in customising your Apple Wallet card is changing the settings or adding information to the back of the card.
The description field allows you to add a short prompt with any information you find necessary to have on the back of the card.
If you wish, there is also an option to add an information field, just like on the front of the card, where you can choose to have an offer displayed or your business phone number or e-mail.
If you wish to include a field such as business information, make sure you have updated this information from the dashboard menu on the left by Settings and Business.
Prompt to update Google Wallet settings
Note that you might have to add some data to the Google Wallet section in order to save the card. It could be a good idea to copy your hex codes and head over to the Google Wallet section, add the colors and fill in the following fields.
If you want to design the Google Wallet member card, you absolutely can! We will add another in-depth blog post on this too.
Summary
The designer tool is built to make it easy to understand by the three sections (Theme and Settings, Front of Card, Back of Card) and by having different sections for Apple and Google Wallets, as they function slightly differently.
